What expecting moms come in for

Low back and pelvic pain

Your weight, posture and pelvic tilt shift as your baby grows. Many patients come in for aching in the low back, hips and pelvis.

Sciatica-type leg pain

Pain, tingling or heaviness that runs from the low back or buttock down the leg is a common reason expecting moms visit.

Rib and mid-back pain

As your belly grows, ribs and the mid-back can feel tight and sore. Gentle care and stretches may help ease it.

Trouble sleeping comfortably

Hip, back and pelvic discomfort can make it hard to get comfortable at night. Many patients ask us about this.

Breech position referral

Local OBs sometimes refer patients in late pregnancy when a baby is breech. We work alongside your OB or midwife.

After-baby back and wrist strain

Feeding, carrying and lifting a newborn can strain the back, neck and wrists. New moms are welcome after delivery.

How it works

How Dr. Lichy cares for you during pregnancy

1. A real exam first

Your first visit starts with a conversation and a hands-on exam. Dr. Lichy asks about your pregnancy, where it hurts and what your OB or midwife has told you, then plans care around you.

2. A table made for pregnancy

Our special pregnancy table has a belly cut-out, so you can lie face down comfortably at every stage. Adjustments are gentle and adapted to your trimester, with no twisting that feels wrong for you.

3. Webster Technique and breech care

Dr. Lichy uses the Webster Technique, gentle techniques to balance the pelvis and ease tension. They may help a breech baby turn; results vary, chiropractic care cannot guarantee it, and it does not replace your OB's care.

4. Home exercises, then after baby

You will learn simple stretches and exercises you can do at home between visits. After delivery, we can help with the back, neck and wrist strain that comes with feeding and carrying your baby.

Results vary from person to person. Dr. Lichy will tell you honestly what he expects for your situation and when to see a medical specialist instead.

Common questions

Pregnancy chiropractic FAQ

Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?

Chiropractors are trained in techniques adapted for pregnancy, and Dr. Lichy uses a special pregnancy table and gentle adjustments suited to your trimester. Every pregnancy is different, so care starts with an exam and your health history.

When can I start?

You can come in during any trimester. Many of our patients start in the first trimester, often for back, hip or pelvic discomfort. Others come later as the belly grows. Walk-ins are welcome.

What if my baby is breech and my OB referred me?

Local OBs sometimes refer patients with a breech baby. Gentle techniques to balance the pelvis and ease tension may help a breech baby turn; results vary, chiropractic care cannot guarantee it, and it does not replace your OB's care.

What is different about a pregnancy visit?

You lie face down comfortably on our pregnancy table, which has a belly cut-out. Adjustments are gentle and adapted to your stage of pregnancy. Dr. Lichy also shows you stretches and exercises to do at home.

Can I come after the baby is born?

Yes. New moms often have back, neck and wrist strain from feeding, lifting and carrying a baby. Care after delivery is adapted to how you are recovering, and your OB or midwife can advise on timing.

Do you take insurance?

We accept most insurance. Coverage varies by plan, so call 212-534-5656 or text 646-829-6801 and we can help you understand what your plan may cover before your visit.

Do I need to tell my OB or midwife?

Yes, please keep your OB or midwife in the loop. Chiropractic care does not replace prenatal care. We are happy to coordinate with your provider, especially if you were referred for a breech baby.
